The paper http://www.itu.dk/xmlstore/XMLStore.pdf
sections 1-3 give also a good background for Askemos internals.
Section 4 differs in so far as the Askemos
does not yet implement any automatic
selection of hosts to support places.
This decision is understood to belong to the policy level
because it reflects users trust in server operators.
See http://www.askemos.org:9080/Askemos2002-en.pdf page 7
on byzantine protocols
in a P2P world.
Otherwise Askemos implements the left part of Figure 3 page 5,
while the directory exists for each place in Askemos,
with the special place "public" for the initial
social contract of the network.
Otherwise the "one node per entry" strategy seems interesting,
but an insertion speed of appro.x 40 nodes per second would kill
Askemos performance. Futhermore XMLStore indicates garbage collection
problems. doesn't it?
The project is discontinued by mid. 2003.
